Privacy Policy
Shambles, by Saltwood Games. Effective 2 November 2026.
This policy explains what information Shambles collects when you play, why, who can see it, and what you can ask us to do with it. The short version: we collect what's needed to run an online game and nothing else. No ads, no tracking, no selling your data.
Who we are
Saltwood Games makes Shambles and is responsible for the information described here. Contact us at support@simruo.dev.
What we collect
- An install identifier. The first time you start the game it makes a random identifier and keeps it on your device. It lets game servers and our online service recognise you when you come back (so your character and what you've unlocked are still yours). It isn't linked to your real name.
- Your player name. The name you choose in the game, shown to other players.
- Your Meta account (on Meta Quest). When you sign in through the Meta Horizon platform we receive your Meta user ID and display name, and Meta tells us whether you own the game. We use these to sign you in, let friends invite you, and keep your unlocks with your account. We don't receive your Meta password, email address or payment details.
- Your game progress. Game servers keep your character: where you are in the world, your health and what you carry. Our online service keeps the weapon skins and outfits you own, your in-game currency balance, and the party you're in.
- Connection information. Your IP address is used to connect you to game servers and our online service, and appears in their logs along with your player name and when you joined, left and died. We use logs to fix problems and deal with cheating or abuse.
- Purchases. If you buy something in the game, Meta processes the payment. We receive a record of what you bought so we can give it to you, never your payment details.
What stays on your device
Your settings, saved servers and passwords for them, and a diagnostic log of each play session (performance figures, your headset model and what happened in the game) are kept on your device. We only see a session log if you choose to send it to us.
What other players see
Shambles is multiplayer. Other players can see your player name, your character and its outfit, weapon skins, and how you move, both in game and, for members of your party, in the lobby. Party members can also see your party's code and who is in it.
Servers run by others
Anyone can host a Shambles server. If you join a server we don't run, its operator receives your player name, IP address and install identifier and keeps your character on that server. Their handling of it is their responsibility, not ours.
What we don't do
- No advertising and no ad tracking.
- No third-party analytics.
- We don't sell or rent your information, and we only share it with the service providers who host our servers, or where the law requires it.
Why we use it
We use this information to provide the game you asked to play (running servers, keeping your progress and purchases, parties), and for our legitimate interest in keeping the game working, secure and fair.
How long we keep it
Your character is kept for as long as the server it's on is running. Your unlocks and purchases are kept for as long as you have an account, so you don't lose them. Server logs are kept only for recent sessions and then deleted. Ask us and we'll delete your data (see below).
Your choices and rights
You can ask us for a copy of the information we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it, by emailing support@simruo.dev with your player name. Deleting your account removes your unlocks and purchases too. If you're in the EU or UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Shambles is meant for players aged 13 and over and isn't directed at children. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, contact us and we'll delete it.
Changes
If we change this policy we'll update it here and change the date at the top. For significant changes we'll also say so in the game or on its store page.
